Frequently Asked Questions

When should I have my child's vision checked?

It is generally advocated that a child have their vision checked before entering school. This usually falls between 4-5 years of age. This assumes that there are no other signs of visual problems noted in the child's behavior. These problems may include, but are not limited to, squinting, frequent headaches, bumping into things, sitting very close to the television, and lack of interest in tasks with fine detail (i.e.- reading or puzzles). If any of these or other concerns exist, a child as young as a few months old can have their vision evaluated by an eye care professional.
