Dr. Robert Kingus, O.D.

Dr. Robert Kingus has been in practice with Dr. Fitzgerald & Associates since 2006. He is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL. Dr. Kingus provides a wide spectrum of optometric services including contact lens fitting, ocular disease management and general refractive care. In addition to these services, Dr. Kingus is the Low Vision Rehabilitation optometrist at the Vision in Motion/Vision Enhancement Center facility, also on the southwest side of Cedar Rapids. This clinic helps serve patients dealing with debilitation eye conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, improve their quality of life and daily activities with the use of low vision devices and specialized visual techniques. The Vision Enhancement Center also provides vision analysis using an instrument called a Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope, or SLO. It is currently the only SLO being utilized for low vision patients in the state of Iowa.

In his spare time Dr. Kingus enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, inline skating (competing in the Northshore Inline Marathon in Duluth, MN 6 times), and traveling. Dr. Kingus has had the opportunity to participate in the Eyecare Kenya mission trip, founded by Dr. Fitzgerald and her non-profit organization Spanda, Inc., in 2007 and 2009. Dr. Kingus is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, AOA Low Vision Rehabilitation Section, Iowa Optometric Associtation, and Cedar Rapids West Rotary Club where he serves on the Board of Directors. He also is a member of the Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids. Dr. Kingus is currently accepting new patients and looks forward to serving the Cedar Rapids and Corridor communities for many years to come.
